Clovernook Primary Bathroom renovation is happening!

Can you tell we are pretty excited around here?! This bathroom remodel is finally going to happen! Those who have gone through a renovation know the time and effort it takes to get a project to breaking ground. From initial concept, floor planning, meeting with subs/ contractors, selecting all the finishes all the while making sure they are in stock……and the list goes on. Thank goodness for our streamlined process to make nothing slips though the cracks!

I wanted to give you a quick look into the development of this bathroom remodel. When we first met with out clients they had a few requests:

  • Drop down makeup vanity for her- ( we ended up doing makeup vanity but not dropdown. This was so she would have more room since her vanity is fairly small)

  • Free standing tub

  • Open the shower up so it did not feel so dark

  • Open up the hallway so it did not feel so narrow and dark

  • Remove double doors going into the bathroom.

  • New window above tub

Before photos:

This is a photo of the dark hallway. You can’t see the shower in this picture but it’s behind the wall on the tub side. Our solve for the dark hallway and shower is removing the shower walls and replacing them with glass and a tiled pony wall. ( see drawings below) We are also taking out the awkward angled shower wall which will make the shower smaller and hallway bigger. This will solve for the narrow hallway. This will give the space a light and airy feel. So much better!

Design Process:

First let’s start with the mood board. For this bathroom remodel we selected finishes that bring an earthy and peaceful energy to the space. We wanted this bathroom to feel like a luxe spa on a countryside. We mixed aged brass with polished nickel. Most all the hard surfaces resemble a worn stone. The rustic green shower tile is what I am most excited for!

Floor plan: For the most part, the footprint of the bathroom stayed the same. The major changes were- the shower got a little bit smaller which opened up the hallway. We added a hutch to his side vanity. And a vanity to her side and changed out the double door entrance to a single door.

Now the elevations and renderings! I decided to wrap the bathroom in the lovely green gray tile. We carried the tile around the vanities and into the shower for a seamless transition. To warm up the bathroom we selected a beautiful dark walnut stain for the cabinets with a little bit of reeded detail on the apron front of the cabinets.

We have a made a few changes to to shower since these drawings but of course that is all part of the process. Little tweaks along the way to create a design that is beautifully functional. Foundation Furnishing Pieces from our Latest Projects

When creating design spaces for our clients we spend a great of deal of time sourcing and curating pieces that feel unique and collected. I am excited to share a few special key players from two of our past project. Let’s go!

1. Leather Coffee Table: From our Clovernook virtual design project we fell in love with this leather beauty. I always try to introduce leather into every space whether it’s a sofa, pillow, table, etc. It makes the space feel lived in and soulful.

2. Sofa: Next we have this gorgeous low back sofa that we used in the taupe performance velvet fabric. The velvet fabric with the modern frame gave this room a sophisticated classy look. Our client loves to entertain and this sofa was the perfect solution for hosting her guests!

3. Rug. Lastly we have the rug. Of course we are going to give all the deets on this special rug. This really is what laid the groundwork for the entire project. With it’s subtle color palette and beautiful detail, this rug is what tied the room together seamlessly! It’s even more beautiful in person!

Our next project has some star players as well and I have a pretty good hunch you will love them too!

Sectional: My sweet client’s family needed ample seating and that seating needed to be both durable and comfortable for 4 very active boys. Because of the shape of the room and the position of the fireplace we selected a this beautiful leather sectional that accomplished all of the above!

Mirror: Next we knew we needed a beautiful mirror above the fireplace. Once I saw this woven mirror I knew this was the perfect statement piece for the space!

Stools: For the kitchen we selected stools that had a beautiful shape and looked intentional with the rest of the space. These were the perfect fit.

When I look back on these projects it’s always interesting to me how once we figure out the foundational pieces of the room, everything just naturally starts to fall into place. The client’s story starts to be weaved into the design and eventually we have a room that our client’s love to come home too.

Thank you for stopping by.

The 4 Elements we Include in Every Room Design

After studying past projects I realized we consistently weave four elements into our interior design projects. I came to my own conclusion that these elements are the secret sauce. It’s what gives a space life, dimension and mostly importantly; it’s what make makes the room just feel so good.

Below is one of our recent interior design projects in Kennewick ,Washington where all four of these elements were used.

  1. Texture

Every room needs texture. Texture is what makes a room feel cozy, and gives the space depth. Texture helps a room not feel flat. I love incorporating organic textures such as stone, wood, and organic fabrics. Other ways to add texture is through pillows, throws, baskets, and upholstery. In this space we used texture through pillows, a side tables and upholstery.

2. Old and New

Nothing brings charm to a room like vintage and new friends hooking arms and collaborating together. They are long lost friends where the vintage tells a story of the past and the new is making memories for future generations to come. We source mostly new for our interior design clients but definitely find it important to incorporate these found treasures! It makes a room feel collective and one of a kind. It’s obvious the stand up piano is the long lost friend in this story!

3. Mix of Materials.

Mixing of materials is really important in your room design. Metal, wood, stone and wovens are great materials to mix in your space. My favorite places to mix materials are are end tables, coffee tables, frames and lighting. In this project we mixed materials in lighting, frames and end tables.

4. Something Personal

Of course you need this element for your room right? And did you know It can be more than just photos. Like a souvenir from a vacation, a crochet blanket, or an object that has sentimental meaning. It could even just be something that reflects your style in a unique way. . No matter what it is, you need to bring some personal items into your design. This is what will make your space feel relatable and most importantly, reflective of you and your unique style! In this space our client had the sweetest little piano stool she used when she was a little girl that is tucked under the upright piano.

We hoped this help you in your endeavors to create a space you love to come home to. Thanks for stopping by! Let us know if there is something you would like us to cover in our future blog posts in the comments.

Hayley
